US House Declares July 14–18 'Crypto Week' to Advance Key Blockchain Legislation

VISI.NEWS | BANDUNG - In a major show of support for digital asset innovation, U.S. House leaders have officially designated the week of July 14 to 18 as 'Crypto Week,' a focused legislative initiative aimed at advancing comprehensive cryptocurrency regulation and solidifying America's position as a global blockchain leader.

On July 3, House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill and House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn 'GT' Thompson joined other GOP leaders in announcing the initiative, which marks a turning point in Washington’s evolving stance on crypto. Just a year ago, the Biden administration was accused of pushing the industry away, particularly under former SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s leadership.

Now, with Donald Trump in office and vocal about his support for Bitcoin and blockchain technology, Congress is aligning its agenda with the administration's pro-crypto posture. Trump has previously referred to Bitcoin as 'amazing' and claimed credit for nurturing the crypto sector.

Legislative Priorities for Crypto Week

The House has laid out an ambitious agenda for the week, beginning with efforts to pass the GENIUS Act, a stablecoin bill that has already cleared the Senate. The legislation seeks to establish a federal framework for dollar-backed cryptocurrencies, aiming to draw significant capital inflows into the U.S. economy.

In addition, lawmakers plan to advance the CLARITY Act, which has already passed out of both the Agriculture and Financial Services Committees. The bill is designed to provide clear regulatory definitions and jurisdictional guidelines for digital asset markets.

Another high-stakes item is the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, which seeks to prohibit the Federal Reserve from issuing a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Originally approved in committee by a narrow 27–22 margin, the bill reflects growing concerns among Republicans over potential privacy risks associated with state-controlled digital currencies.

A Historic Shift in U.S. Crypto Policy
